New Early Years Lead Educator

Sorry for not blogging for a while but there have been lots of changes happening behind the scenes regarding the early years work!

Amanda Shore, early years teacher at Birchfields primary school and who was seconded to the museum for 2 days a week took up a post as children’s centre teacher at Clayton Surestart centre in April.  We welcome a new Early Years Lead Educator in post at The Manchester Museum ( 2 days per week) Salmah Akram, who has been working at the Whitworth Art Gallery covering the early years work during a maternity leave. More from Salmah in September.

My post has also changed and I am now Early Years and Family Learning coordinator for Renaissance NW (long title!) but I am still based at MM. I am sharing the role with Debbie Walker (museum consultant)and we are now not only working with the 5 Manchester museums and galleries, but with museums and galleries in the North west Hub, including Preston, Lancashire and Tullie House in Cumbria! We have built up a lot of fantastic practice in the last 3 yaers and there will be opportunities to share it more widely in the region especially through training and development events so watch this space…..

Have a good summer.
