Session Summary

How do museums communicate scientific information? Talk with a Museum professional to see how Manchester Museum presents this information to our various audiences. Students will then explore our galleries to critically analyse our approach. This can be used as evidence to support BTEC Level 3 in Applied Science.

Session Outcomes

Pupils will:

  • Hear from a Museum professional about Manchester Museum’s approach to communicating scientific information through displays, activities and online content
  • Critically evaluate how Manchester Museum’s natural history galleries communicate scientific information
  • Consider the intended audience for a wide range of museum galleries
  • Use an iPad to collect evidence to support their conclusions

Gallery Time

During this workshop students will have the option to visit our Nature Discovery gallery, Living Worlds gallery, Nature’s Library gallery, Live Animals gallery and The Study.

If you are planning to spend time exploring other galleries at the Museum either before or after your session please tell us this when you complete our “Make a Booking” form, below.
